Das Museum Ostwall Dortmund schreibt einen Open Call für vier Performer*innen aus, die an KIRKPINAR, einer choreografischen Arbeit von caner teker, mitwirken möchten. Proben und Aufführungen finden im November 2026 statt.

KIRKPINAR ist eine Performance, die in der über 750 Jahre alten Tradition des türkischen Ölringkampfs (Yağlı Güreş) verwurzelt ist. Das Werk existiert ausschließlich im Moment seiner Aktivierung und wurde 2023 in die Sammlung des Museum Ostwall Dortmund aufgenommen. In einem provisorischen Ring wird der Kampf als Ort von Intimität neu gelesen. Die Performer*innen bereiten ihre Körper vor – sie bandagieren ihre Hände, tragen Mundschutz und reiben ihre Haut mit Öl ein. Durch die Verlangsamung verschiebt sich die Begegnung von Dominanz hin zu Balance, gegenseitiger Unterstützung und Berührung.

Das Werk ist für vier Performer*innen konzipiert und als langfristig aktivierbare Arbeit angelegt. Weitere Aufführungen und Aktivierungen ab 2026 sind geplant.

Wer kann sich bewerben

– Performerinnen ab 21 Jahren mit Wohnsitz in NRW (keine Reisekostenübernahme möglich)

– Künstlerinnen aus rassifizierten Kontexten und/oder mit Migrationsgeschichte

– Künstler*innen mit Erfahrung in körperlichen oder körperbasierten Praktiken (z. B. Tanz, Kampfkunst, Kampfsport, Performance oder verwandte Felder)

– Alle Geschlechtsidentitäten sind willkommen

Honorar

– Professionelle Vergütung (LFDK)

– Proben und Aufführungen werden bezahlt

– Details werden im Auswahlprozess kommuniziert

Zeitraum & Verfügbarkeit

– April 2026: Präsenz-Audition-Workshop in Dortmund

– Oktober 2026: einwöchige Probenphase in Dortmund

– November 2026: 2 Aufführungstage; Verfügbarkeit für weitere Aufführungen ab 2027 und darüber hinaus wird vorausgesetzt (ca. 3 Wochenenden pro Jahr)

Eine vollständige Verfügbarkeit während der Proben- und Aufführungszeiträume ist erforderlich.

– Einladung zu einem Präsenz-Audition-Workshop im April

– Endauswahl im Anschluss an den Workshop

Museum Ostwall Dortmund is launching an open call for four performers to join KIRKPINAR, a choreographic work by caner teker, with rehearsals and performances taking place in November 2026.

KIRKPINAR is a performance rooted in the more than 750-year-old tradition of Turkish oil wrestling (Yağlı Güreş). The work exists only in the moment of its activation and entered the collection of Museum Ostwall Dortmund in 2023. Set in a makeshift ring, KIRKPINAR reframes the fight as a site of intimacy. Performers prepare their bodies—bandaging hands, wearing mouth guards, covering their skin in oil. Slowed down, the encounter shifts from domination toward balance, support, and touch.

The work is conceived for four performers and is developed as a long-term, activatable piece. Further performances and activations from 2026 onwards are planned.

Who can apply

– Performers aged 21 and above based in NRW (no travel costs available)

– Artists from racialised backgrounds and/or with migration histories

– Artists with experience in physical or body-based practices (dance, martial arts, combat sports, performance, or related fields)

– All gender identities welcome

Fees

– Professional pay (LFDK)

– Rehearsals and performances are paid

– Details communicated during the selection process

Calendar & availability

– April 2026: in-person audition workshop in Dortmund

– October 2026: one-week rehearsal period in Dortmund

– November 2026: 2 performance days; availability for further performances in 2027 and beyond is required (approx. 3 weekends per year)

Full availability during rehearsals and performance dates is required.

Selection process

– Online pre-selection based on written applications

– Invitation to an in-person audition workshop in April

– Final selection following the workshop
