Brig Huezo (Pronomen: dey/deren*, non-binär) versteht sich als Post-Digital Choreographer und Dance Artist. Huezo absolvierte das Studium des Zeitgenössischen Tanzes an der Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln (2021), unterstützt durch den DAAD sowie private Stipendien. 2024 wurde dey mit dem NRW-Förderpreis für Nachwuchskünstler*innen in den Darstellenden Künsten ausgezeichnet.

Im Zentrum von Huezos künstlerischem Interesse steht die Dekonstruktion des Körpers in einer virtuellen, technologiegeprägten Welt. Die Arbeiten bewegen sich an der Schnittstelle von Motion-Tracking, Gaming, 3D-Design und Film. In ihrer “phygitalen” Tanzpraxis verbinden sich physische Bewegung und digitale Räume zu immersiven, hybriden Performance-Formaten.

Huezos dritte Produktion “THE DEATH AT THE CODE! (2024)” wurde für den Tanztheaterpreis der SK Stiftung Kultur in Köln nominiert. Derzeit arbeitet dey an einer neuen Produktion “PERREANDO HARDCORE”, die in Koproduktion mit dem Tanzhaus NRW entsteht und Ende 2025 Premiere feiern wird. Für 2026 wurde Brig von der Oper Köln und dem Kulturamt der Stadt Köln ausgewählt, eine neue Produktion zu entwickeln – als eine*r der ersten Nachwuchschoreograf*innen aus der freien Szene, die an der Oper Köln inszenieren dürfen.

2023 präsentierte Huezo das erste Auftragswerk “POST DIGITAL BODIES”– eine interaktive Tanz-Spiel-Installation anlässlich des 25-jährigen Jubiläums des Tanzhaus NRW. Aus diesem Konzept entwickelte sich ein Motion-Capture-Workshop, zu dem dey im Rahmen der Ausstellung “WE ARE IN HELL WHEN WE HURT EACH OTHER” (Jacolby Satterwhite) von Kampnagel und den Deichtorhallen Hamburg eingeladen wurde.

Ein besonderes Werk ist das Tanzsolo “THE DEAD CODE MUST BE ALIVE!”(2022), das sich durch eine Vielzahl realer und glitched Referenzen – u.a. aus dem Bereich Cyberfeminismus, Mythologie und Videospielästhetik – auszeichnet. Gefördert wurde die Entwicklung im Rahmen des Tanz.digital-Programms 2022 durch den Dachverband Tanz.

Präsentationen der Arbeiten fanden u.a. statt bei: Tanz NRW Biennale 2025, TEMPS D‘IMAGES Festival, Tanzhaus NRW (2024/25), Tanzfaktur Köln (2024), Beyond Gravity Festival, Theater im Depot (2023), Moovy Festival, A MAZE Berlin, Gamescom 2024, PACT Zollverein (2020), Transeuropa X Festival (2021) und Tanz.tausch Festival (2022). Huezo war außerdem als Gastkünstler*in aktiv, u.a. bei: Tanzdigital Salon (Dachverband Tanz), Digitale Next Society (Kulturpolitische Gesellschaft), TanzNRW Festival, Transcorporealities (PACT Zollverein), Creative Technologies Meetup, Fab Lab St. Pauli Hamburg u.v.m.

Im Bereich Forschung und Lehre arbeitete Huezo im Rahmen des Post Internet Dances Research Lab am Tanzhaus NRW, als Lehrbeauftragte*r an der Ruhr-Universität Bochum (Seminar & Creative Lab: Virtuelle Produktionsmethoden für die hybride Bühne), sowie für das Projekt “Kreative Spiele & Motion Tracking in hybriden Bühnenformaten” im Rahmen von NEW TALENTS RUHR an der Akademie für Theater und Digitalität Dortmund. Als Tänzer*in und Performer*in war Huezo Teil zahlreicher performativer Kontexte, u.a. mit Nick Mauss (*Treatise on the Veil*, Museum Ludwig Köln), der Young Boy Dancing Group (Kunsthalle Osnabrück) sowie in Ko-Kreationen wie: R.I.P. (Anan Fries), GOLA (Reut Shemesh), Ultramarine Sway (Tacho Tinta), LYCS Collective, Museum Ulm und UMANIMAL– ein mehrfach preisgekrönter Tanzfilm.

Huezo studied Contemporary Dance at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln (2021), supported by the DAAD and private scholarships. In 2024, dey was awarded the NRW-Förderpreis for emerging artists in the performing arts.

At the core of Huezo's artistic interest is the deconstruction of the body in a virtual, technology-driven world. Their works sit at the intersection of motion tracking, gaming, 3D design, and film. In their “phygital” dance practice, physical movement and digital spaces merge into immersive, hybrid performance formats.

Huezo's third production, "THE DEATH AT THE CODE!" (2024), was nominated for the Tanztheaterpreis by the SK Stiftung Kultur in Cologne. Currently, they is working on a new production, “PERREANDO HARDCORE”, which is being co-produced with Tanzhaus NRW and is set to premiere in late 2025. For 2026, Brig was selected by the Oper Köln and the Cultural Office of the City of Cologne to develop a new production – as one of the first emerging choreographers from the independent scene to be invited to direct at the Oper Köln.

In 2023, Huezo presented their first commission, "POST DIGITAL BODIES" – an interactive dance-game installation for the 25th anniversary of Tanzhaus NRW. A particularly notable work is the dance solo "THE DEAD CODE MUST BE ALIVE!" (2022), which is characterized by a variety of real and glitched references – including from the realms of cyberfeminism, mythology, and video game aesthetics. The development of this work was supported as part of the Tanz.digital program 2022 by the Dachverband Tanz.

In the field of research and teaching, Huezo worked as part of the Post Internet Dances Research Lab at Tanzhaus NRW, as a lecturer at Ruhr University Bochum (Seminar & Creative Lab: Virtual Production Methods for Hybrid Stages), and for the project "Creative Games & Motion Tracking in Hybrid Stage Formats" as part of NEW TALENTS RUHR at the Academy of Theater and Digitality in Dortmund. As a dancer and performer, Huezo has been part of numerous performative contexts, including with Nick Mauss (Treatise on the Veil, Museum Ludwig Cologne), Young Boy Dancing Group (Kunsthalle Osnabrück), as well as in co-creations such as: "R.I.P."
