Brigitte Huezo (they/them Pronouns) is a dancer, performer and choreographer. They were born in El Salvador and currently work and live in Cologne. After earning a BA in Dance at the University of Music and Dance Cologne (2021) with the support of the DAAD and private scholarships. They are interested in deconstructing our perception of the body and its future in an increasingly technological and virtual world. Proceeding from dance, they deal with various media interfaces by combining 3D design, music, film, technology, and fashion in their pieces. Their works are often in collaborative context with artist from different disciplines. Focusing on the capacity of dance to constantly reinvent itself by conversing with other media. The last work cycle 2020-2021 “Portraits” involved research that brings together hybrid, non-binary identities and the classical genre of 'Portrait' in paintings. It offers explorative views at transnational and queer identities transferred into new ways of portraiture. Their works as choreographer have been shown at Transeuropa X Festival, Now and Netx at Tanzhaus NRW, tanz.tausch festival 22, Nomada Festival , PACT Zollverein in Atelier n° 64. As residency artist in Tanzhaus NRW, Tanzfaktur, FREIRAUM, Quartier am Hafen and Baufeld 12 Kalk with the support of the National Performance Network and „Auf geht’s!“ scholarship from the state of NRW among others. As a dancer and performer, they have worked and taken part in diverse performative settings e.g. Nick Mauss at the Museum Ludwig, Young Boy Dancing Group at Kunsthalle Ösnabruck, and Reut Shemesh. As well contributing within performing collaboration projects with artists such: Greta Salgado Kudrass in UMANIMAL (Film awarded in different festivals) LYCS Kollectiv in Museum Ulm, and Amorales Teatro feminist Collective among others. Presently they conduct a research on the body e.g. in the field of cyberfeminism on a long term project "DEAD CODE MUST BE ALIVE!" Using the metaphor of an endless dystopian body of data, it explores the hyperreal visibility of cyberfeminism in hybrid spaces. The initiation of this project has been supported by Dachverband Tanz within the framework of Tanz.digital 2022.
